Periodontal Gum Treatment

Ongoing inflammation caused by a bacterium living in plaque is known as “Periodontal Disease.” The bacteria in plaque produces toxins that irritate the gums, making them red, tender, and prone to bleeding. This condition is commonly called “gingivitis” and it can lead to more serious types of periodontal disease (periodontitis).

If left untreated, this can result in damage to the attachment of the tooth to the gums and bone. The teeth then become loose and can even fall out or require removal by a dentist. Gingivitis is preventable or reversible by brushing and flossing daily and having your teeth professionally cleaned here at Greenbrier.
